Where Innisfil Cases Are Heard

Even though Innisfil sits right next to Barrie, Innisfil criminal cases are usually dealt with at the Bradford courthouse, not the Barrie courthouse.

CourtOntario Court of Justice — Bradford
Address57 Holland Street East, Bradford, ON L3Z 1H8
HoursMonday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Bradford is a satellite of the Barrie judicial district. First appearances, case management and guilty pleas are handled there, and the Barrie Crown Attorney’s office prosecutes the cases. Trials can be transferred to the Barrie courthouse at 75 Mulcaster Street. Your release documents will tell you where to go. Our Bradford courthouse guide covers parking, security and what to expect.

What Happens After a Charge

Release or bail. Police may release you with a court date and conditions. If they hold you, you must be brought before a justice for a bail hearing, usually within 24 hours. If a family member is asked to act as a surety, they should understand the role before they agree.

First appearance. Your first date is about getting disclosure and making a plan, not deciding guilt. See your first court appearance.

Disclosure and decisions. Once we have the Crown’s evidence, we review it with you and advise whether the case should be resolved, diverted, or taken to trial.

If police have contacted you but you have not been charged, don’t give a statement. Read should I give a statement to the police? and call us first.
